Colour 2022

In 2021 Charlotte made a 6 part tv-series to explore and to disclose the magical world of pigments to a larger audience. Each episode is dedicated to a specific colour with a raw pigment material at its base: Red (cochenille), Blue (indigo), Black (carbon), Yellow (ochre or iron oxide), White (chalk) and Gold.

The series was broadcasted in 2022 on Dutch public television as De Kleuren van Caspers (Caspers' Colours) and was voted most valuable television program of the year. To watch the episodes (in Dutch) please visit NPO Start.

During the many historical reconstruction and research projects she participated in, Charlotte got intrigued by the fact that certain pigments and colours have been in use since the beginning of Art History. They are present in famous master pieces, and yet still occur in our daily lives. Everybody has touched charcoal, chalk, ochre, gold and indigo which makes these materials a binding factor between high art, science, nature and everyday life.
